Ikuru remains deputy gov, says Rivers govt

Rivers State Government, yesterday, said the status quo still remains with Engr Tele Ikuru as Deputy Governor of the state, thus dismissing fears that the state government would initiate impeachment proceedings against him.
Meantime, the Deputy governor was absent at the second emergency state cabinet meeting at Government House, yesterday.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, who briefed newsmen at the end of the emergency cabinet meeting said it was presided over by Governor Rotimi Amaechi who is Chairman of the cabinet.
The commissioner who confirmed that the deputy governor, Ikuru who is Deputy Chairman of Cabinet was absent, added that no apology was received from him ahead of the meeting.
