Ogun police command nab fake DSP

The men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a fake Deputy Superintendent of Police, Makinde Paul, in the Adatan area of the state.

The father of four was paraded at the Police Officers’ Mess, Ibara Housing Estate. He confessed that he had duped many unsuspecting members of the public.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, Haliru Gwandu, said 54-year-old Paul was nabbed at Adatan by policemen.

Gwandu said the fake policeman was arrested following suspicion by some officers of the command in the Adatan area.

He said, “The suspect has been parading himself as an officer of the command since early last year, and in the process he has defrauded many unsuspecting members of the public.”

But Paul said he wanted to enlist in the police, but his family members did not support his ambition.

The state police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, advised the residents to be wary of characters like Paul.

He said, “If any police officer comes to your house to perform any police duty and he does not have an identity card, you have all the right to call the police to come and question his identity.”
