In 2007, Taofick Okoya, 43, created his own doll that Nigerian girls could identify with by recreating their skin colour and style - and it is now so successful that it is outselling Barbie. The doll, which is called Queens of Africa, comes with traditional outfits and accessories and costs around £4.50.

Two die as trailer collides with commercial bus

No fewer than two persons were feared dead on Wednesday as a commercial bus collided with a trailer along the Mile 2 end of the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos. It was gathered that the commercial bus driver was driving against traffic to avoid gridlock at Mile 2. The collision was said to have been fatal because both vehicles were moving at top speed. A source, who claimed to be an eyewitness, said the accident occurred around 8am. According to the source, who identified himself simply as Ifeanyi, the expressway, where the incident occurred, is usually busy at that time of the day.
