Suspected kidnappers killed German national, abduct another in Ogun
A German, who works for Julius Berger construction company was shot dead by suspected kidnappers, and another was abducted in Ogun State Monday, police said.
The two workers were on their way to a quarry site in Ogbere town of Ogun State, when armed men opened fire on their car.
PREMIUM TIMES gathered that in the course of the shooting, one of the expatriates was hit by a bullet, while his colleagues were immediately taken away by the gunmen.
The Deputy Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said one of the victims was confirmed dead by the hospital authority where he was rushed to after the attack.
“The victims were on their way to their work place, a quarry site somewhere in Ogbere when the hoodlums came out from the bush, to attack them,” Mr. Oyeyemi said.
“The hoodlums started shooting, and in the process shot one of the foreigners, who was later confirmed dead by the hospital. The other victim is still in custody of the abductors.”
He said the police are working round the clock to ensure the safety of the abducted victim, with further assurance that, the suspects would be apprehended.
