Army seizes power in Burkina Faso after protests
Burkina's army seized power Thursday, with the head of the armed forces announcing the dissolution of government and parliament and the creation of a transitional body to run
the country after violent protests against the president's 27-year-rule.
The transitional body will seek a return to constitutional order "within 12 months", army chief Nabere Honore Traore said in a statement read out by an officer at a press conference in the capital Ouagadougou.
The military also announced a curfew from 7:00 pm until 6:00 am (1900 GMT-0600 GMT).
