EDO ASSEMBLY CRISIS: Deputy speaker, minority leader, others escape assassination attempt

Patrick Iluobe reportedly escaped an assassination attempt, Sunday when their official vehicles were attacked by unknown gunmen suspected to be hired killers. The incident was said to have occurred at Abudu, the headquarters of Orhionmwon local government area of Edo State, Nigeria. One of the suspected assassins was gunned down by a security operative attached to Okoduwa. A lawmaker was said to have sustained a serious injury, while about 10 others escaped in an operation which sources said lasted for not less than 20 minutes on the busy route, according to reports from leadership. Ebea who confirmed the attack, observed that the attackers were prepared going by their dressing and weapons, stating that the attempt on their lives is connected to the ongoing crisis rocking the Edo assembly. Chief Dan Orbih, the Edo State PDP chairman condemned the attempted assassination, calling on the the Edo State police to kick start a full scale investigation.
