The Ogun State Police Command says the three-year-old girl, Oluwabunmi Ajelero, who was abducted on Sunday on the premises of Surulere Baptist Church in Ojuelegba, Lagos, was rescued in another church in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to Punch, the police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday said the victim attracted attention after she started crying in a church in the Oke Sokori area of Abeokuta on Sunday evening.
He said, “The men of the Adigbe division rescued the girl and handed her over to the Juvenile and Women Centre of the police for proper care.”
He said investigation had shown that the kidnappers demanded N300,000 ransom from Oluwabunmi’s parents before they would release her.
He said, “The girl was seen with a note on which the Lagos pastor’s telephone number was written, possibly to make easy to locate her parents after the criminals’ transaction with her family.
“The rescue of the girl truncated the operation of the criminals and no ransom was paid before the girl was found by the police in Ogun State.”
