The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers, who confessed to killing a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Mustapha Falaki.The command’s spokesman, Haruna Mohammed, in a statement on Monday, added that a Toyota Hilux was recovered from the suspects. The suspects, according to the statement, are Mohammed Musa, 32, and Jamilu Idris, 33.
Mohammed said, “Some suspected robbers, numbering about four, snatched a white Toyota Hilux with registration number 45H07FG, property of Institute of Agricultural Research, ABU, Zaria.
“The suspects snatched the vehicle at gunpoint from one late Prof. Mustapha Falaki at the Sumaila area after attacking the Kibiya Police Station in Kano State.”
He added that in a bid to escape, the armed robbers followed through Burra town in the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, and were pursued by the police.
He added that the suspects abandoned the vehicle, snatched a motorcycle and escaped into the forest.
Haruna said the area was cordoned off by combined security forces, leading to the arrest of two suspects who confessed to have killed the professor.
He said, “We are still investigating .”
