Ms Yousafzai, who was 15 at the time, was shot in the head on board her school bus in the Swat valley in 2012, in an attack that shocked the world. She was awarded last year's Nobel Peace Prize for campaigning for children's rights, despite the risk to her life.

A teenage boy was pulled, dazed and dusty, from the wreckage of a seven-story building in Kathmandu Thursday that collapsed around him five days ago when an enormous earthquake rocked Nepal. Pemba Tamang, 15, was carried out on a stretcher with his face covered with dust. Medics had to put an IV drop into his arm and a blue brace had been placed around his neck. He appeared stunned and his eyes blinked in the sunlight. Nepalese rescuers, with support from an American disaster response team, had been working for hours to free Tamang from the rubble. L.B. Basnet, the police officer who crawled into a gap in the rubble to reach the teen, said he was surprisingly responsive. "He thanked me when I first approached him," said Basnet. "He told me his name, his address, and I gave him some water. I assured him we were near to him." NDLEA arraigns two for importing cocaine

400 found dead, buried in Damasak

Hundreds of people have been found dead in the northeast Nigerian town of Damasak, apparently victims of Boko Haram insurgents, residents and officials said on Monday. "Dead bodies were found in houses, streets and many more in the Damasak River which has dried up," said local man Kaumi Kusur, adding the victims were buried in 20 mass graves at the weekend.

In a statement last night, Olukolade noted that most of the reports of the rebound by the terrorists are not true as they cannot be confirmed on ground. “The reports by some media outfits claiming that terrorists are now in control of Mafa in Borno State are false.  The truth is that an attempt by a group of fleeing terrorists who strayed towards the town and engaged in their typical suicide attack was duly repelled by troops.  Similarly, the claim by some media organisations that terrorists chased out troops and took over Marte cannot be verified as troops were busy elsewhere during the said attack. “However, all efforts  to track the terrorists who were reported to have attacked the town have not indicated their presence as claimed.  Surveillance activities are however ongoing although there has been no indication of the large number of terrorists as being claimed in some reports attributed to anonymous sources,” he said.
