Borno Gives Metal Scanners to Private Schools

Borno State government has moved to check suicide bomb attacks on schools in the state by providing metal scanners to some private primary schools in Maiduguri, the state capital. The Chairman, Committee on the Resuscitation of Primary Education System in the state, Dr. El-Nur Dongel, on Friday, during the presentation of the scanners to some primary schools, said the gesture was to fortify security within the schools and ensure safety of students and teachers.

The Head, Economic and Commerce of the Spanish Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Pablo Segrelles, has said that €6.5bn (N1.49tn) worth of crude oil was exported from Nigeria by his country in 2014. He said the huge volume of oil and gas exported from Nigeria exceeded the volume of goods sent to the country by Spain. Speaking at a business luncheon organised by the Nigerian-Spain Association on Wednesday, Segrelles said the business relationship between both countries would extend to other sectors because of the diversification of Nigerian economy.

CBN dismisses plan to convert domiciliary account to naira

The Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday night said it had no plan to convert the foreign domiciliary account of customers of deposit money bank into naira. The apex bank, in a statement in Abuja, said it had, at no time, contemplated taking such a decision. EFCC Arraigns One for N6m Online Banking Scam

The Economics and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today, February 25, 2015 arraigned one Akpere Ovine Desmond before Justice Abubakar Shitu of the Federal High Court, Warri, Delta State on a 2-count charge bordering on conspiracy and money laundering. The petitioner had alleged that on May 29, 2012, he received a phone call from one Mr. Taiwo Ogunsanyo who claimed to be a staff of First Bank Nigeria Plc. According to him, Taiwo claimed the bank was updating customers’ security information and requested for his token number, phone number and corporate identity number.
